PURSUE Record · Release 02
ODNI-UAP-D001
Agency: ODNI · Type: Document · Date: 2025 · Location: Western United States · Status: Unresolved

Official description
A first-hand narrative from a senior U.S. Intelligence Community official documenting a 2025 UAP encounter in the Western United States. The official described non-ballistic flight characteristics that defy known aviation technology, near sensitive domestic sites.
Curator's note
The archive's most contemporary record, and its most misread. As evidence about the object — a 2025 close-range encounter in the Western United States, non-ballistic flight, an apparent atmospheric distortion around it — a single narrative with no published sensor corroboration is weak, and honest readers should treat it that way. As evidence about the institution it is stronger: a senior intelligence official reported it, ODNI formally recorded and retained it, and of everything it could have contributed to PURSUE it chose this — a signal that the reporting is current and domestic, not archaeological. The redactions remove the geography; the meta-question they can't remove is how many comparable narratives were not selected for release.
